It’s a new year — and a bold new chapter for Stonewall’s groundbreaking Rainbow Laces campaign.
After years of focusing on elite-level sport, Rainbow Laces 2026 marks a powerful shift in direction, with Stonewall encouraging LGBTQ+ people at every level to embrace the joy of movement, physical activity and sport — whether that’s on the pitch, in the gym or simply getting active in everyday life.
So when Simon Blake, CEO of Stonewall asked to join us on The Jack Murley Sports Show to talk about the future of Rainbow Laces, it was an immediate yes — and not just because we share Cornish roots.
In this thoughtful and timely conversation, we explore:
The evolution of the Rainbow Laces campaign and why 2026 represents a new era
The pushback and controversy around previous campaigns — and whether it surprised him
Why getting LGBTQ+ people active matters more than ever
Simon’s own relationship with sport, and what movement means to him personally
This episode is an important listen for anyone passionate about LGBTQ+ inclusion, equality in sport and creating welcoming spaces for everyone to be active. We’re hugely grateful to Simon for joining us — and we’re certain this conversation will leave you inspired.

It’s been one year since Tim Koleto, the 2022 Olympic silver-medal-winning figure-skater, announced his retirement from a sport that shaped him for more than 25 years.
During a remarkable career, Tim competed around the world, earning more medals and titles than most people could dream about in a sporting lifetime – and doing it in circumstances that were far from normal!
Two years before retiring, Tim also shared another defining part of his story — coming out publicly as bisexual, helping to increase visibility for LGBTQ+ athletes in winter sports and beyond. Now, he reflects on what authenticity has meant throughout his career, the pressures of elite competition, and navigating life after sport.
In this episode, we talk about:
Winning Olympic silver at Beijing 2022
Representing Japan on the global stage
Coming out as bisexual in elite sport
Identity, visibility and allyship in figure skating
Life after retirement and redefining purpose
This is a thoughtful, powerful conversation with one of ice dancing’s most compelling voices — and a must-listen for fans of the Olympics, figure skating and LGBTQ+ stories in sport.WANT TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT OUR GUEST?@timkoletoWANT TO GET IN TOUCH WITH THE PODCAST?@jack_murleyjack@jackmurley.com #TimKoleto #OlympicSilver #IceDancing #FigureSkating #OlympiansOfInstagram #WinterOlympics #Beijing2022 #LGBTQInSport #BiVisibility #QueerAthletes #OutInSport #PrideInSport #AuthenticityMatters #RepresentationMatters #JackMurleySportsShow #SportsPodcast #AwardWinningPodcast #PodcastDiscovery #ListenAndLearn #VoicesInSport

Tom Miazga is, quite simply, a powerhouse.A Paralympian, a record-breaker, a multiple-time CrossFit champion and a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community — his journey is one of resilience, reinvention and relentless drive.

Mitch Brown spent years living the ultimate Aussie footy stereotype — a tough, reliable defender running out nearly 100 times in the AFL for the West Coast Eagles. A Rising Star nominee and a much-loved teammate, Mitch’s career looked every inch the image of the “straight” Australian sportsman.
But behind the scenes, Mitch was carrying a secret: he was bisexual. And in a league where no male player had ever spoken publicly about being part of the LGBTQ+ community, the pressure to keep quiet was immense.
That changed earlier this year, when Mitch Brown made history by coming out publicly — becoming the first male AFL player to do so. His story sparked global headlines, inspired countless others, and became a landmark moment for representation in Australian sport.
In this powerful, honest conversation, Mitch joins us to talk about:
His journey with his sexuality and the challenges of keeping his secret in elite sport
What it was like to come out publicly as bisexual — and the worldwide reaction
Inspiring others across Australia and beyond with his bravery and visibility
His proudest and most unforgettable memories from his AFL career
Authentic, thoughtful and deeply inspiring, this is a landmark episode with a trailblazing athlete who changed the face of the AFL forever.
